Given the amount of automotive related activity there, it is never talked about. Why?

Given the hate NASCAR can receive for only turning left, imagine what people must think of driving in a straight line.

What do you want to hear, that Jimmy managed to take his Firebird up to 148 this week?

They don't care about actual performance benchmarks on this site.
They only care about how fast their miata can dodge cones in an amatuer event on an arbitrary course.

Maybe because it only happens a couple times a year? Speedhunters had some beautiful features on it not too long ago.

to be honest, its only once a year and its a miserable event that no one wants to go to. The speed is cool and I respect the fever, but nobody wants to cover it.

I love Bonneville racing. I wish we saw more about it. This is my favorite bonneville car

People hear Salt Flats and think Salt Lake City. Nope. Not even close. Hundreds of miles of nothingness difference.

Bonneville Speed Week is only once a year (in August) but speed trials are held at El Mirage 6 times a year. And that's only because the rest of the time, it's too hot to run at El Mirage.

I've been invited twice, but the thought of the desolation and isolation there just made me want to stay home in my warm bed. I've helped prep a car to run there, seen the videos, heard the stories, etc.; it just never interested me enough to venture way out west to go.
Since I'm on seversl LSR forums and websites, I could post a bunch of pics and quote other peoples stories, but what's the fun in that. Sounds like work to me and I do that as little as possible.
